Wanted Page List Length[edit source]

Hi Jodigi. On the 'Wanted Page', do you think you could add another list length to include 1000 and 2000? At the moment it only goes to 500. Many thanks.--Charliefourzero (talk) 20:45, 11 January 2015 (CET)

I can't change the standard limits in the media wiki, but I have add 2 links for your request. Please, see Talk:Main_Page.
This longer listing can be take some minutes --Jodigi (talk) 06:25, 12 January 2015 (CET)
Thanks. I was using the same technique, but was hoping it could have been incorporated. As ever though, you have great customer service!--Charliefourzero (talk) 19:18, 12 January 2015 (CET)
Thank you very much. You are very welcome Charliefourzero. --Jodigi (talk) 07:17, 13 January 2015 (CET)

Info October 2015[edit source]

Hi Jodigi, I have put some information about myself on my user page as requested. psionl0

That looks very good, tyvm. --Jodigi (talk) 23:13, 30 October 2015 (CET)

und...[edit source]

Hello Jodigi,

I found this wiki only recently and thought it would be fun to contribute. I thought a simple way to get started would be to fix obvious errors — I'm glad you approve.

Questions:

  • Is this site being translated from a German original?
  • How long has this site been around?
  • Is there any specific area that needs the most work?

Thanks!

Load81 (talk) 16:30, 5 March 2016 (CET)

Hi Load81,

That's a very good idea for starting up.

About your questions:

  1. Most of the articles of the (international, English) C64-Wiki.com are translated from our first project (the German) C64-Wiki.de, but you can write own articles by using our article standards. These standards you can see in the text scources of old articles in both C64-Wiki's. Another way is it to use some article templates - for example computer games --> see Sample article. Another templates are found under Template. Sorry, in the English C64-Wiki.com we are liberal by using all English words, not specially American, Canadian or British English!
  2. We started with the C64-Wiki.com in 2007. A little bit earlier with C64-Wiki.de (in April 2005). PS: If aren't English C64-Wiki.com articles in the German C64-Wiki.de, we translate also English articles into German.
  3. You can write or help by your interests of your computer hobbies. Constantly game articles are translated by Camailleon from German into English. We haven't enough english speaking (writing) people, who writes about normal software (like: applications, tools) or technicals, hardware and programming for the needed several coding languages. If you mean, that some things missed here, feel write about it. Our main focus is the C64 and Commodore home computers and the computer aera of 1970s until middle 1990s (the Commodore operation time) for basics and old computer systems.

I'm German and administrate both C64-Wikis since some years...

For a good teamwork in the next time.

Sincerely yours Jodigi

PS: Not every und must translated into and, because some names and titles of companies, games and books aren't translated! Like the German company and publisher "Markt und Technik" or the German game title "Mit Jeans und Hellebarde" (or use the original English game title).

PS2: In the moment the problem with und are finished! --Jodigi (talk) 06:38, 6 March 2016 (CET)

Somehow IP Banned[edit source]

I'm not sure what on earth I did, but somehow my IP got banned from viewing this wiki. It's strange, I was in the middle of updating my user page when it happened. Did I edit too many articles too quickly?

I thought the site was down. ALL http:// connections are refused.

Please unban 98.182.56.78

Load81 (talk) 02:09, 6 March 2016 (CET)

Sorry, but I didn't know why you are banned. We have no automatically blocks here.
Registered users can edit a lot.
Sometimes it could be, that the server or the C64-Wiki.com/.de hang for little time. This is not a ground for panic. --Jodigi (talk) 06:16, 6 March 2016 (CET)

Template Feedback Request[edit source]

Hello Jodigi,

Thanks again for being welcoming when I joined the community here. Yes, I got too aggressive with und clean-up. But, it seems all fixed now. Also, the IP ban problem seems to have gone away for now.

I have created a new template called Data Storage Device I would like your comments on it. To see it live look at the Commodore 1541 article. Please leave constructive feedback in the template discussion page thanks!

Load81 (talk) 04:53, 10 March 2016 (CET)

Hi Load81,
Thank you very much for the info. You can also start to ask only on the discussion site of the edited or started article. I see that through the edit history (recent changes) and if I have time, I answer. :))
Sincerly --Jodigi (talk) 02:01, 11 March 2016 (CET)

A better stub?[edit source]

Hello,

Is GLINK-LT a better stub article? ~Load81 (talk)

That's perfect, tyvm. --Jodigi (talk) 22:36, 31 March 2016 (CEST)

Pictures[edit source]

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for the FYI. —Load81 (talk)

Mobile Support?[edit source]

Hi Jodigi,

Have the admins ever considered adding mobile support to this wiki? It's kind of a pain to view this site on a mobile phone or tablet. You might consider installing Extension:MobileFrontend. A lot of traffic on the modern web is mobile. —Load81 (talk) 13:32, 29 July 2016 (CEST)

Thank you very much for your request. Please, for general ideas, questions and requests we talk about in the English C64-Wiki-Forum at Forum64.
I have add also your request there. --Jodigi (talk) 22:14, 29 July 2016 (CEST)
Our system admin has answered, that it takes some weeks (or a few months) to upgrade this into our C64-Wiki. Remember, we all work only in our free time here! --Jodigi (talk) 21:43, 31 July 2016 (CEST)

Re: my user page[edit source]

"Can you talk something more about you in your user profile (on your user page). That will be nice."

Then I would have to give up my famous modesty. :-D   Maybe later. Nothing special. - DaveJB (talk) 23:13, 31 July 2016 (CEST)

All right, I don't want to force that, but if you check this image and find it good modification enough to upload it into User Port article then I say thank you. - DaveJB (talk) 20:22, 3 August 2016 (CEST)

Done Userport.
Please, make more edits and you can also upload pictures.--Jodigi (talk) 01:16, 4 August 2016 (CEST)

Thanks for the note on my user page. I just wanted to let you know that it's useful you mention we should write about our own projects on it; it hadn't occured to me to do that. (I joined just to mention what looks like an error on the Expansion Port page.) --Cjs (talk) 03:07, 24 September 2019 (CEST)

Google Translate[edit source]

Thanks for the help! I knew Google Translate would not be perfect. —Load81 (talk) 19:02, 23 July 2017 (CEST)

have a look at deepl. That's very good, as it recognizes the context: https://www.deepl.com/translator --Andi boe (talk) 07:06, 16 February 2020 (CET)
Thank you very much for your hint. --Jodigi (talk) 18:36, 16 February 2020 (CET)

What is the DE: tag (?)[edit source]

First, I'm not sure it is called a tag. I'm asking because I updated a wiki page for the first time today. I completed the translation of the BackBit page from German to English (evie imported the page and started the translation).

When I finished, I assumed I should change DE: to EN:, but you changed it back. I looked through the help, but couldn't find anything to explain it's purpose.

I'm just curious so I'll make better edits in the future.

Thanks —JonRobertson (talk) Apr 20, 2020

UCSD Pascal for Commodore computers[edit source]

Hello Prodigi,

I am looking for UCSD Pascal for the Commodore PET or 64. Do you know where I can get it?

Thanks in advance,

Jos grote Punt

Sorry, in the moment I can't help you. --Jodigi (talk) 19:52, 11 May 2020 (CEST)

--Joystick (talk) 21:55, 20 December 2020 (CET)

Remark: This article describes the BASIC command Jodigi in BASIC V2 at the Commodore 64. Remark: This article describes the BASIC command blubber in BASIC V2 at the Commodore 64.

Proposal for new page for Assembler Instructions[edit source]

Hi Jodigi. Wondering your thoughts on a new page for Assembler Instructions page that I want to create. There is the page https://www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/Opcode which lists all opcodes, which of course includes the mnemonics. But I'm thinking for beginners (like me!) it would be useful to have a mnemonic-centric version, which categorises the instructions in to headings/tables like below for example:

Bit-wise Logic Instructions

Instruction Description Addressing Modes
ORA Bit-wise 'OR' between Accumulator and Operand I,A,Ax,Ay,Z,Zx,Ix-In, In-Ix
AND Bit-wise 'AND' between Accumulator and Operand I,A,Ax,Ay,Z,Zx,Ix-In, In-Ix
EOR Bit-wise 'Exclusive OR' between Accumulator and Operand I,A,Ax,Ay,Z,Zx,Ix-In, In-Ix

... and would include a ref table for the addressing mode abbreviations. What do you think? --SiDawg (talk) 06:23, 9 October 2021 (CEST)

Sorry, I'm not a great expert in assembler. If you mean, that is useful and we need this, you can do this. --Jodigi (talk) 08:10, 9 October 2021 (CEST)

Template suggestions[edit source]

Greetings. I would like to suggest the creation of a several templates, including:

  • {{Delete}} template, indicating that a certain page is qualified to be deleted by administrators. This primarily would be applied to many of the sections that are found on my maintenance project. This would also create a category for these images, likely titled something like [[Category:Pages requested for deletion]].
  • {{Image-Quality}} would be used for image files to indicate that there is a problem in the image's quality. It would allow for a reason to be written as well. Files would be added to a category called something along the lines of [[Category:Files needing reupload]].
  • {{Not-unused}} would be used on templates, files, and categories that may only be used for temporary circumstances (like the two templates above), and would remove them from maintenance categories about being unused pages. It would create a self-linking system; it does not necessarily need its own category.

I do not mind making these myself, just didn't want to make them without approval. Much thanks. Trig - 16:40, 23 January 2022 (CET)

Thank you very much for your commitment. First of all, we still have to discuss whether this project makes sense for our C64 Wiki project!
This may take some time, please do not make any big changes or deletions until then. Thank you very much. --Jodigi (talk) 22:22, 23 January 2022 (CET)

Is Template:Lock necessary? Seems to have been last used in 2008 for one single page and is not necessary given the ability to set editing to autoconfirmed members only. Furthermore, its english is...really difficult to understand at best, so if it is determined necessary, what is its general message to improve it? Trig - 17:09, 31 January 2022 (CET)

Yes, it is. It is for closing C64-Wiki sites for public if we have spamming, vandalism, etc. --Jodigi (talk) 02:17, 1 February 2022 (CET)
Having a template is relatively redundant though since pages provide a message when a page has been set to autoconfirm–edits or administrator-edits security levels. These boxes may also have a reason attached to them which you could explicitly write that a page has been temporarily closed anyway. In fact, you've already added a reason for this exact page to begin with:

00:35, January 19, 2008 Jodigi protected Talk:Boulder Dash (many spamming at this page [edit=autoconfirmed:move=autoconfirmed]) (hist)

I personally think you could just write in a reason that a page is going to be locked for any given reason. In addition, Talk:Boulder Dash could probably be safely unprotected/removed as it has been 12 years without any serious incident. I rewrote the template to be better english, but I would strongly advise just removing it entirely. Trig - 06:41, 1 February 2022 (CET)
Sorry, we used this and we don't change or delete this template, thank you. --Jodigi (talk) 13:47, 2 February 2022 (CET)
I've crawled back. it looks like The Main German Wiki utilizes a deletion category (although without a template) for their site. I would again strongly encourage integrating this onto this site as well. Trig - 18:06, 17 March 2022 (CET)
On the C64-Wiki.com project the use Category:Cleanup. --Jodigi (talk) 01:06, 18 March 2022 (CET)

Invitation to join event[edit source]

Hello. A group of independent wikis are throwing a collaborative event to edit each other during a January event. I think that C64, at least the English variant, may be interested in participating. The sign-up to do so can be found on This Google Form. The event is still in the planning phase, but we are fielding interest until January 5, 2024. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Trig Jegman - 22:11, 28 November 2023 (CET)

Wiki affiliation inquiry[edit source]

Hello. I was wondering if you would be possibly interested in affiliating sites between C64 Wiki and my own wiki of Qix Wiki. My reason for doing so is that Qix has formal releases of Qix and Volfied for the Commodore 64, as well as a bootleg title named Stix, Qix for Commodore 128, and possibly other entries. All I would ask is that in return for our site linking to you for extended Commodore information, you would link to us for extended Qix information. Furthermore, you would be listed on our affiliates page. Please let me know if you and the C64 community are interested. Thanks! Trig - 17:12, 12 July 2024 (CEST)
