Katakis-v2[edit | edit source]
- Original version by pcollins (g64+nib) Forum-64
- CRC:
- 418df2d9 (katakis_s1[rainbow_arts_1988](r1).g64)
- 669b89c7 (katakis_s2[rainbow_arts_1988](r1)(!).g64)
- 19b953ea (katakis_s1[rainbow_arts_1988](r1).nib)
- e64d5009 (katakis_s2[rainbow_arts_1988](r1)(!).nib)
- Alternative side 1 with empty highscore list:
- ce4a1b2f (katakis_s1[rainbow_arts_1988](r1)(!).g64)
- 6fbedba4 (katakis_s1[rainbow_arts_1988](r1)(!).nib)
- ce4a1b2f (katakis_s1[rainbow_arts_1988](r1)(alt).g64)
- 6fbedba4 (katakis_s1[rainbow_arts_1988](r1)(alt).nib)
- Disk sides: 2 (two disk turns necessary until end of the game)
- Crashes: stable (no crash from start to end titles)
- Bugs:
- - level-4 bug (seldom, but there)
- - after end titles correct entry into the highscore list (saving possible), then continues to the options screen
- - starting from Vice 2.3.17 and also in hoxs64 and micro64 the disk is always deleted at the start of the game, it seems likely that this either that this is related to the GCR-code update of the emulators and/or this dump is not exact enough!
- Two-player modes: 2-player-in-turns mode faulty
- Fastloader: available, very fast, but only for 1541
- Notes: Rainbow Arts Intro available. No graphic bugs noticeable when playing through for the first time. No problems playing to the end.
DO NOT USE CHEAT POKES, because anything from crashes in the middle of the level, over not loading the next level to sudden ghost sprites can happen. If e.g. the life counter in level 1 is set to a value higher than 3, the game freezes at the third attack wave. Also it looks as though the level-4 chip bug then appears always. It is possible that queries on cheats or code changes are built into the game, that trigger such actions (or they are "only" timing problems due to the changed cycle number). - Tested with WinVice-v2.2 (Win32 x86 mingw), tested slightly with WinVice 2.3.16, .17 and .19 by H.T.W 2012.06.28

- 6fbedba4 (Katakis (Side 1).nib)
- e64d5009 (Katakis (Side 2).nib)
- Disk sides: 2 (two disk turns necessary until end of the game)
- Crashes: stable (no crash from start to end titles)

- - at end boss in level 10 short flickering of the screen
- - level-4 bug (seldom, but there)
- - after end titles correct entry into the highscore list (saving possible), then continues to the options screen
- - It can happen that after saving the highscore list the program declares the disk as a copy at the next start and deletes it!! (happened 2x with WinVice-v2.2 (Win32 x86 mingw)). Starting from Vice 2.3.17 and also in hoxs64 and micro64 the disk is always deleted at the start of the game, it seems likely that this either that this is related to the GCR-code update of the emulators and/or this dump is not exact enough!
