gamescom
Since 2009 the computer & video games fair gamescom runs yearly in August from Wednesday (only media, trade and business professionals vistors), Thursday until Sunday (open for all visitors) at the Cologne Convention Center. The parts of gamescom are a consumer aera and a business aera. Also companies for software for edutainment and infotainment and hardware firms for design and modding take part. Some organisations, clubs, professional technial schools and universities present new ideas in computer gaming and inform about their courses in the IT sector.
This fair is the follower of the German computer games fair Games Convention at the convention center of Leipzig.
The visitor finds also professional controversies, a computer retro area, the German casemod mastership (Deutsche Casemod Meisterschaft, DCMM, also see Case Modding), special expositions and an open air area with extra sport and recreational activities.
In the City of Cologne runs isochronally the open air festival "gamescom Festival" from lunch until evening.
