Description[edit | edit source]
PP Hammer is a platformer in the vein of games like Lode Runner. Armed with a jackhammer, PP Hammer has to collect all hidden gold coins and treasures in over 30 levels in order to open the secret exit. However, there is a little problem with the time. After a few seconds, a stone which has been drilled away reappears. Thus PP has to leave his current place quickly to avoid being locked. There is also a time limit for the level as a whole, and it can only be prolonged by collecting an hourglass.During bonus levels PP Hammer can collect bonus points in the form of fruits or extra lives represented by hearts.
Design[edit | edit source]
PP Hammer impresses with lovely graphics and nice music. The 30+ levels are designed with four different graphical themes. One time PP wanders through icy landscapes, another time through Egytian pyramids, ancient Rome or a medievl castle. The bonus levels are modelled after Lego stones. Within the levels you have to collect all treasures within the time limit. For the different bonus rounds you only have a few seconds to collect extra points and lives.
There is a status bar at the upper part of the screen. It shows the highscore, the treasures collected and the energy which is represented by columns. Furthermore, the collected items are displayed as well as hints for the game in the text field.
Hints[edit | edit source]
Controls[edit | edit source]
The is controlled mostly by joystick. In addition, the keys 1 to 5 are used for using items.
- Keyboard commands
- 1 - 5 = Use item
- SPACE - Start game from the beginning
- H - Restart level (for the cost of a life)
- F1 - Music on/off
- P - Pause
Display and items[edit | edit source]
- The uppermost row of the status bar displays the following (from left to right): number of lives remaining, remaining time, treasures yet to be found, current score
- The row below displays: items collected, the columns, the field where texts are displayed
- Bonus items like potions or oil (which can be activated by the keys 1 to 5) have an effect only for a certain period of time. An appropriately coloured column represents the remaining time.
RED POTION: If you touch an enemy or a trap, you loose health. If the yellow column reaches zero, you loose a life. If you use the red flask, however, your health will be restored to maximum.
BLUE POTION: you can jump higher and further
YELLOW POTION: you become invisible. Enemies and traps cannot harm you.
OIL BARREL: you can dig faster and thus deeper. - Extras, activated via keys 1 to 5.
RED, BLUE and YELLOW KEY: If you stand before a key hole, you can open or close a door by using a key with same colour.
HOURGLASS: You can increase the time limit with 50 additional units. - Extras, activated on contact.
1UP HEART: You receive an extra life. A heart may be hidden under a stone or within a secret passage.
SCROLL: When walking over it, a message is displayed in the lower row of the status bar. Most of the time, this message is important.
BLUE CRYSTAL: This is an entrance to a bonus world. There, you may collect extra points and extra lives. Sometimes, this crystal is invisible, so look for it at seemingly unimportant places.
TELEPORTER: Transport you though the level. They are invisible sometimes.

Reviews[edit | edit source]
