Description[edit | edit source]
As Sir Dashly you are enjoying a comfortable safari when your group suddenly is attacked by cannibals, who also kidnap your wife. At first you don't think too much of this, but when you remember the pile of laundry at home, you start a rescue operation. Fortunately, you know where you can find the cannibals: through the jungle, then over the river and finally up the mountain. You leave immediately, because you suspect that your wife will soon end up in the soup pot, but you weren't able to hear the warnings. What you don't know is that you can cross the jungle only with the help of vines, but there are also monkeys there who don't like that. In the river crocodiles wait for their dessert. And rocks roll down from the hill at short time intervals, ready to crush you.
Design[edit | edit source]
The game is a relatively well-done conversion of the eponymous arcade machine, which in turn is a copy of the arcade machine game "Jungle King". The graphics and sound match the standard of the year of publication, the scrolling in Level 1 is a little bit jerky. The difficulty level is adjustable and is rather low.
Hints[edit | edit source]
The Levels[edit | edit source]
Level 1 - The Jungle
You'll have to swing from vine to vine. Since these vines swing at different speeds, good timing is necessary. Some vines can be occupied by monkeys, who will climb up and down, so you'll have to wait fot them to be at the top or the bottom of the vine. To jump, press the fire button. The more the vine is on the left, the farther the jump. From the last vine to jump into the river.
Level 2 - The River
There are crocodiles in the river, which you can kill with your knife. To do this, press the fire button. Pay attention to your oxygen supply if you dive (top right of display), it will be replenished when you surface. Also look out for bubbles, they will keep you from swimming for a short time. When you reach the riverbank, the mountain with the debris field is in front of you.
Level 3 - The Mountain
To avoid the rocks you have to run under them or jump over them. Push the joystick upwards at the right time and press the fire button to jump. Pull the joystick towards you to crouch. At the end of the boulder field, you reach the cannibals.
Level 4 - The Cannibals
Here you see your wife hanging over the cauldron, which is on the fire. You have to outwit the cannibals by jumping over them at the right time. Look out for the position of the speers of the cannibals. You last jump will be the jump to your wife, which rescues her from the boiling kettle.

Reviews[edit | edit source]
The Heist: "I loved to play Jungle Hunt 64, I had a pirated disk copy in 1984. It was one of the more varied games, as you had to go through various "worlds". Nevertheless, I remember the game being so easy, that you can complete it without any problems. A classic. 6 Points." 02:07, 29. Dez. 2008 (CET)
Jodigi: "I've always admired the arcade machine version. I thought the C64 conversion was really difficult. That makes Aztec Challenge more fun ..."
Blubarju: "I still love to play Jungle Hunt. The graphics are ok for 1984 and the difficulty level is quite moderate. 7 Points from me."
